The People Leading Heart & Home

Ruth Bloch

Founder

Ruth founded Heart & Home Living in 2022 after nearly twenty years supporting homeless adults — work that showed her how often instability in childhood shapes an entire life. She built the organisation to change that story at its source.

Today, Ruth sets the vision, values and culture of the organisation — making sure children receive the best care, and the staff who deliver it are properly supported.

Carol Jones

Chief Executive Officer

Carol leads Heart & Home Living day to day. She joined us after many years with one of the UK’s largest national care providers, choosing a smaller, family-led organisation where she could make real change for the children in our care.

Carol sense of purpose was shaped early in her career, working in a high-security prison, where she saw young people arrive already labelled by the system. Today, she and Ruth share one purpose: to care for children with the most complex needs — often those who have experienced several placement breakdowns — and to achieve Outstanding in every home.

Our Model of Care

The Child at the Centre

We specialise in caring for children with the most complex needs, including those who have experienced repeated placement breakdowns. Every child sits at the centre of four streams of support, working together.

01

Therapeutic Parenting

Our staff create a genuine family environment — warmth, routine and clear, loving boundaries — working as trained therapeutic parents, not simply carers.

02

PACE

Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy guide every interaction — a therapeutic approach that helps children feel understood, safe and accepted, never judged.

03

Psychological Therapy

Specialist clinical input, delivered with our partner bMindful Psychology, helps children work through the impact of trauma — and trains and supports our staff so that therapeutic thinking runs through daily practice.

04

Positive Behaviour Support

We look at the function behind a behaviour — what the child is communicating or seeking — and put support in place that reduces the need for it. Understanding the reason is how we help a child move beyond it.

“Every child who comes to us is our responsibility — from the day they arrive to the day they step into adulthood. If we get those years right, we can change the whole course of a young life. That is why we are here — for the children.

— Carol Jones, Chief Executive Officer
